mom’s chicken cacciatore

2 pounds chicken
2 tablespoons shortening
1 can tomato soup
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 large cloves garlic
1 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 green pepper
1/2 cup sliced onion

Brown chicken. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook for 45 minutes. Serve with spaghetti. Makes 4-6 servings.
